ICARUS WITCH RELEASE METAL VERSION OF PITTSBURGH PENGUINS THEME SONG.

Icarus Witch recorded and released their tribute to the hometown heroes and Stanley Cup Champions, The Pittsburgh Penguins. The band cut a slightly more metallized version of “The Boys Of Winter” AKA, the song that they play in the arena to get the fans frenzied before the Pens skate onto the ice at the beginning of game.

The band stated:  ”We’re pretty passionate about our teams in this city, especially the Pens. We were thinking of using their theme song as intro music for an upcoming show but were surprised to find it’s quite difficult to track down as a download. So we just said, ‘Why not record our own version?’ Fortunately our producer, Eric Klinger had a space in his recording schedule and the whole project went from concept to arrangement to production in the span of 2 days. Now, less than a week later thanks to Cleopatra Records, our tribute is available for download on iTunes, Amazon and similar sites! We kept it faithful enough to the original so any non-metal Penguins fans will enjoy it, but just heavy enough so any non-penguin fan metal heads will also dig it as a mini-epic instrumental.”

Lamb of God has some behind the scene footage online from the making of, “Hit the Wall”, an exclusive song for the upcoming, Iron Man 2: Video game, due out in April. The game is based on the cinematic universe featured in Marvel Studios‘ “Iron Man 2″, in theaters end of April.

Underoath have announced the departure of their drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie. The band posted the following.

“We are taking this opportunity to sadly inform you the six of us have decided at the end of the current european tour, Aaron will no longer be playing in Underoath. This was not a decision made in haste but a thought out and prayed upon group agreement. It in no way effects any of the shows left on this tour. Pestilence have posted a new song called “Amgod “ on their MySpace page and can be found HERE (Last song in player). The band posted the following about the song in a Myspace Blog.

“It’s just a rehearsal [recording] with new drummer Yuma [Van Eekelen]. Just guitars and drums…but it turned out pretty sick and we wanted to share!!”

Pestilence is currently working on a sixth studio album due out in March 2010. – As I Lay Dying have announced the title of their upcoming, 5th full-length album as, “The Powerless Rise”. The band is currently finishing up recording of “The Powerless Rise” in San Diego with producer Adam D. (Killswitch Engage). The album will be released in the spring via Metal Blade Records.

– The Devil Wears Prada will head to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, February 2 to shoot a brand video for their track “Assistant To The Regional Manager.”  The video will be produced by Danny Yourd and directed by Steve Hoover, who also created the band’s first two music videos.
“We want to make a music video that is totally different than we’ve done before,” said TDWP’s Mike Hranica, “and from our discussions with Steve and Danny and the treatment we’ve seen, this will definitely be unique.  We’re all real excited about it.”
Immediately following Tuesday’s video shoot, The Devil Wears Prada travels to Boston to join up with Killswitch Engage as direct support on their six-week-plus Winter U.S. tour.
