Trivium officially announced today that Travis Smith will not be returning behind the kit and Nick Augusto (Maruta) would be his replacement. Here is what the band had to say:

“We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family,” Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy commented. “Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse, and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering the Skies Above,’ that we just recorded with Nick. I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy, and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.”

The band has already recorded two brand new tracks with Nick at the helm,“Shattering the Skies Above” that will appear on the forthcoming, digital-only “God of War Blood & Metal” EP, as well as a cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World”.

Soilwork have posted their first studio blog online and it can be seen HERE. The band is currently working on the new album entitled, “The Panic Broadcast”. Here is what Vocalist Björn Strid recently said about the album.

“If any of you missed some of the intricate riffing that makes Soilwork so unique, you won’t be disappointed. I find these songs very playful and because we’re not cutting down on anything — no ‘too much information,’ no ‘less is more’ — they’re just pure musical joy with no boundaries. And THAT, to me, is what this band is all about! Oceano parts ways with guitarist Andrew Mikhail, Earache Records released this statement on his departure from the band.

Citing personal differences between the 2 parties, Chicago-based deathcore act, Oceano has parted ways with guitarist,  Andrew Mikhail. Long known for overcoming adversity, Oceano has made clear that all of their 2010 commitments will be kept, including the recording and release of their followup to 2008’s breakout debut, Depths.

–Sick of It All have finished writing the band’s new album called, Based On A True Story, and will release it through Century Media Records and on April 20th. The band then will kick off the year  on a lengthy European run with the Dropkick Murphys late this month and follow it up with an AFI run throughout the UK. – Indiana black metal band Ptahil have started writing a new album tentatively titled Codex Lucifer. The new release will be out late 2010 or early 2011.

– Trivium will start tracking drums tomorrow for the new song “Shattering The Skies Above”, to be on the digital extended play (EP) soundtrack for the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive videogame “God of War III”. The EP, titled “God of War  Blood & Metal”, will be released in March on Roadrunner Records as a part of the “God of War III Ultimate Edition”. The recording of the song is also the  debut of drummer Nick Augusto, a former drum tech for the band. No announcement from the band has been made on the drummer situation.

– Crime In Stereo posted the song “Drugwolf” off the new album “ I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone”, on the bands Myspace page HERE. Look for the album on February 23.
